  3.         To help explain the above I have enclosed an example data file
  4.         called EXPED.DAT <DATADAT>. Use a text editor <EDITFILE> or word
  5.         processor to read it or print it out by entering: 
  6.  
  7.         PRINT EXPED.DAT
  8.  
  9.         To produce pedigrees proceed as follows.
  10.  
  11.         First make sure that you are logged on to the disk containing
  12.         the above programs, and that you have changed directory (using
  13.         CHDIR) to the one that contains them. Then enter:
  14.  
  15.         PEDRAW
  16.  
  17.         Using the up-and-down arrows highlight the "Load pedigree file"
  18.         option and press Enter <LOADFILE>. Press Enter twice more to see
  19.         a list of all files in the subdirectory. Highlight EXPED.DAT and
  20.         select it by pressing Enter. The data file should be loaded in
  21.         without problems.

  23.         Highlight the "Display pedigree" option and select it with
  24.         Enter <DISPLAY>. Press Enter again to see a list of ID's of
  25.         everyone in the pedigree. Highlight 12990 and select it with
  26.         Enter. The pedigree should be displayed (if not see the section
  27.         on "Setting the graphics display"). Press Esc and the diagram
  28.         will be saved to disk with the name 12990.MSP.

  30.         Press Esc again to return to the main menu, then select "Quit"
  31.         to leave PEDRAW.

  34.         
  35.         If you have Microsoft Windows then you may wish to run that and
  36.         then select the file 12990.MSP to open with Paint. You can label
  37.         the pedigree with that and then print it out in the usual way.

  39.         If you do not have Microsoft Windows, print out the pedigree by
  40.         entering:

  42.         PRMSP 12990.MSP 
  43.         
  44.         <PRMSP>

  46.         To see how PEDRAW uses .PED files, try typing:
  47.  
  48.         PEDRAW EXPED.PED 
  49.  
  50.         and give the ancestor 4001 <DATALINK>.
